Hotel or Resort pre stay asks

My preschool child was ruined for life by the staff at a Ritz in Arizona. They made her feel so special, I think she might never recover!

If they are missing the little things, the “frivolous” requests as some people put it, what bigger things are they missing? Why have a space for special requests if you are not going to bother to read them.

Oh, for chissakes. This is obnoxious.

You can test EXACTLY the same thing by asking for something that isn't nonsensical and, frankly, assholish. You get precisely the same info by asking for a note with a recommendation for local sights to see with kids, or three extra towels, or no scented soap, or whatever is a non-assholish hoop-jumping task and looks remotely like something a person might do as part of a normal job where they aren't catering to giant babies.

But why would I test this? Is she a secret shopper or something?

The iPad thing is clearly something they developed for left behind stuffed animals. You can see the appeal. If a kid leaves a stuffie, they take a few photos of it enjoying the hotel before it gets mailed home. They did it with the kid’s iPad as a joke. Or like, deep commentary on childhood and screens. Probably as a joke.

Yes and yes. These are the things that set a 5 star apart from a 4 star.

OP, you just scream low class.

That reminds me of the true story of the hotel 10 years ago that got asked to put pictures of Nicolas Cage all over the hotel room, and they complied, hilariously.

I work for one of the local major hotel companies, and we are working on ways to improve giving guest access to amenities before they arrive. Things like spa appointments, cabana bookings, restaurant reservations, golf tee times, etc. The main limitation is technology integrations that we don’t have yet, but they are coming.

We use reservation systems or direct concierge asks, depending on what we ask. Asks include no feathers in pillows or comforters, extra pillows, unscented soaps, no fragrances in room, allergy room, dinner suggestions and reservations, excursion bookings.
