However, federal law also requires all states that receive Title I funds to participate in NAEP reading and mathematics assessments at fourth and eighth grades. Similarly, school districts that receive Title I funds and are selected for the NAEP sample are also required to participate in NAEP reading and mathematics assessments at fourth and eighth grades.

Other than Title 1 schools, which yes, would include Baltimore City schools, you don't have any idea which schools in MD, or FL for that matter, took part.

This is cherry picking data.

There you go blaming Baltimore again… the Kirwin Commission came to the exact same conclusion on NAEP and they didn’t say MCPS was some bastion of excellence. Let’s face it, they are ranked 5th in the state. Why do you think Maryland’s grand pooh bahs are spending 4 BILLION in the next 10 years to try to fix it. (Blueprint is its name) Look it up - facts are stubborn things. Florida is a better state for education currently than Maryland.

I’m from Florida. Public schools are pretty weak compared to DMV schools. Lots of factors but the biggest would be peer effects and just general attitude of the population there. They just aren’t curious; just like OP you live in Florida seeking a cheaper simpler life, not to write the great American novel.

Pp from 1933. I am enjoying your visuals. I loved going to destin in the fall, and I agree, the summers are nauseatingly hot and humid. If it’s any consolation I found the summers in se Asia worse with larger and more aggressive mosquitos. Asian tiger mosquitos, folks. They are coming.

Did op mean it was her winter getaway? That would make a lot more sense.

The average FL school is way better than the average DC school, some PP shared a link proving that.

In both places you can navigate your way into good schools, and in both places you can find capable and motivated kids, sure perhaps motivated by different things. The latest woke fad in DC, the latest water sports fad in Florida.

Apples and oranges, but you know that. Germany and France have widespread availability in the first trimester. They have universal Healthcare. And they certainly have exceptions for the life and health of the mother for the entire pregnancy.

I have a friend who lived and taught in Florida, until her district cut librarians and ESL teachers, among others. Before you make plans to move, look carefully at the staffing and resources in the prospective district to see what kind of support and resources they are actually giving students.
