And how will strivers know where to apply?

actually a funny comment because it is true on many levels

I think US News single handedly raised the reputation of a number of T25 non ivies

Vanderbilt had a 50%+ acceptance rate back at the turn of the century as did USC.

Ivies will always get the apps but Vandy, Northwestern, Duke, Rice, Northeastern, and Wash U are included on many wish lists based solely on the ranking

Duke and Vandy have always enjoyed high lay prestige.

I disagree with the above statement. Always is a long very time.

Definitely not Vandy. The only two schools that have traditionally enjoyed lay prestige outside of the rankings are Northwestern and Duke. Maybe Rice in some small circles. Vandy is extremely nouveau riche, overrated by rankings.

A false sense of status and prestige is all places like Chicago, Northwestern, WashU, and Michigan have. Notre Dame is the one anomaly I suppose.

Meanwhile Georgetown, Vanderbilt, USC, Miami and NYU will remain hot because they’re full of rich kids and in thriving cities.

Lmfao Notre Dame is more overrated than all those aforementioned schools combined. This post just screams insecurity. Constantly derides other parts of the country “flyover country” and yet lives in… the DMV, of all places?! The jokes write themselves.

Notre Dame is #7 on endowment.
It'll only get better. Far from overrated.

Catholic institutions and hoarding money. Name a more iconic duo.

+1. Ignore her. She comes in every single mention or Notre Dame to brag about its endowment, completely missing the point that what a school spends on each year’s students has no tie to endowment whatsoever!
