They’ve so far avoided most of that and left that to the New York Times, but yeah. They’re making some weird decisions. Thanks to the person who posted all the tweets about how oppo research gets into the media, but I notice that oppo research against Democrats, no matter how flimsy or threadbare, gets printed almost immediately, poorly tarted up with a few “allegedly” and other qualifying words but hard research like this doesn’t see the light until after the election? Get outta here. |
+1 And you’re welcome, that was me/OP. Same guy goes on to say he was in charge of oppo for Michael Grimm, another NYC Republican who got elected to Congress and ended up being a walking nightmare who was charged by federal authorities with 20 counts of fraud, federal tax evasion, and perjury and also threatened to throw a reporter over a balcony in the Capitol rotunda when asked about the investigation. Guy kept getting elected, though, lol Staten Island. He ran again after his prison term but lost in the primary. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Grimm_(politician) |
Mr. Santos is going through some things right now. Can’t wait for the spin on how he is the victim of the Deep State and anti-gay bias. |
Good times when Grimm threatened to throw a reporter off of a balcony in the Capitol. |
Despite this quibble, what I said is true. Our democracy depends upon good journalism. |
What happens if he resigns before being seated? |
Then the governor schedules a special election, like when the newly elected Congressman from Louisiana died of Covid two years ago before being seated. |
Our corporate media is killing this country. The Times didn't run with this because they bought into "cRiME WavE" and rEd wAve". |
Why would he resign? He fits so well with the current GOP party. |
I mean, I do get that - but I guess I’m hoping that a NY swing district might rise up a little more and demand his ouster |
Agree! This guy " hid in plain site" in the biggest media market in the US! |
Grimm... woah, for a minute I thought you were talking about Gianforte. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/happened-republican-greg-gianforte-body-slammed-reporter/story?id=58610691 Why is the GOP full of violent psychopathic nutjobs? |
The bottom line here is that there will probably be a resignation and a special election in which the Democrat candidate will win. So that will get it to 221 to 214. It seems like there are at least 3 potential moderate GOP members who will switch parties. 218-217. Then there will be resignations and Dem special election flips. You heard it here first: Dems will be back in control of the House prior to the ‘24 election. |
He will not resign. His district voted for him. Sean Patrick Mahoney did such a bang up job. If NYT didn’t run the story then why not run ads exposing the most egregious things? I’m so sick of Dems behaving like politics hasn’t changed since Trump was elected. |
THIS They're busy stirring the pot over race relations ad nauseum. But where are they when we need reliable information? Out partying with their billionaire owners. |
