How many books have you read this year? What are your practices?

I'm a text person and they just don't work for me. Same with podcasts--requires a kind of extended focus my brain doesn't have.

Same with me. I’m just not wired for audio.

Ditto, and same with TV. I like setting my own pace

69. I hope to finish my current one tomorrow.

Paperwhite, during meals if I’m eating alone, in the evening, and before bed.

Probably 12-15. Though if you add up all the books (especially audiobooks) I’ve started and lost interest in, it’s much higher.

I’m kind of all-in or not-at-all on reading. If I get into a book, I’ll tear through it in a day or two at the detriment of everything else in my life but I’ll also have a book that just stares at me from the nightstand for months before I give up on it. And I tend to fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow which would be the logical time for me to read. I wake up at 4am with insomnia often and listen to short stories or audiobooks at slower than normal speed in hopes of falling back asleep, but don’t really count those as I don’t end up listening to them sequentially and they are odd genres (something about old whaling and Arctic exploration stories really hits the spot at 4am and you don’t miss much if you skip around the chapters…)

About 25 books. I read every night just about, but sometimes fall asleep 10 pages in.

Having a kindle and getting ebooks from the library has been amazing ... every Friday night I look at what books I have, and what's newly available. It's a lot of fun!

Over 50. I’ve been on a happily ever after kick since pandemic began, so they’re mostly romcoms and mysteries
