I think FL's estate tax is actually pretty generous to the estate. I thought.

I thought about retiring to FL when I'm 70 but climate change is changing my mind about that. Plus, the mosquitos six months of the year. I wouldn't even step out of the house for half the year due to the humidity and bugs.

Yes, but this was considered a "good" Orlando school in a wealthier area. Literally an A school under that silly rating system.

We also just constantly did stupid FCAT prep. All they ever cared about was prepping for that one test and not actually teaching anything.

I’m only a few miles from the coast. I live near Crystal River which is amazing! We sail, kayak, scuba dive, and hike year round. I can be in Tampa in an hour and in Orlando in an hour. My pool is warm enough to swim in almost year round. (Year round for sure if I use the heater.). I live in one of the highest points in the state. Hurricanes are not a concern for us. We get the wind and rain, but no flooding. Cooter Pond Park is actually really pretty.

I’m sorry you are so unhappy where you are. I’ve lived all over the US and in three very different places overseas. I’ve found great things about everywhere we have lived. But I love Florida. 🐊

My friend’s daughter had 60 kids in her Florida virtual school class - 60 kids in a history class! Math was just a teacher reading from slides, no actual instruction. That was one of the top middle schools. Now they go to private but it costs $40-45k per year.

Oh, and the arguably best elementary school in Miami didn’t have soap or toilet paper (kids brought their own) and 1 copy machine for 1100 kids. Go figure.

Or don't care if women die. DeSantis wants to pass the same abortion laws in Florida they have in Texas. My cousin literally had to wait until she was in sepsis after a partial abruption at 15 weeks with a very wanted baby. Because of the delay she has infection scarring and now may be entirely unable to carry another pregnancy. And she easily could have died.

I grew up in NJ and we had portables too. Our town had high growth at the time. Kids hunted and had guns/bows in their cars. So what?

It won't surprise me at all if DeSantis wins, I am well aware he has a lot of support although it does still baffle me a little bit, much like I have been baffled to find out so many millions of Americans did and still do support Trump. Baffled because I wasn't aware untl the last few years that so many millions are so ignorant and their numbers are growing. I find it to be very scary.
