In the upcoming governor's race you will see that millions of Florida residents will vote against DeSantis and while he may win it will not be a landslide. He squeaked by in the last election by .4% and he has really pissed off a lot of people since then.

You're going to be in for a surprise. -Signed a Florida resident in their 30's who once voted for Gillum, and Biden and has early voted for DeSantis.

It won't surprise me at all if DeSantis wins, I am well aware he has a lot of support although it does still baffle me a little bit, much like I have been baffled to find out so many millions of Americans did and still do support Trump. Baffled because I wasn't aware untl the last few years that so many millions are so ignorant and their numbers are growing. I find it to be very scary.

Wow, imagine announcing to the world you've got brain worms.

Someone take away our MD and JD degrees. We have brain worms lol.

Yeah that even more convinces me you have brain worms. My Dad's a pediatrician and has treated a 9 year old pregnant rape victim. And yes, she was referred and got an abortion. He's absolutely horrified by these Republican laws.

Are you nuts? He is heading towards a landslide -- will be 10 points. He is more popular now than ever.

You may be right and if you are that does not indicate that I am the one that is nuts.

FL is no longer your grandparents FL.

Honestly this whole darn country has gone nuts. Rubio's indicated he wants to restrict birth control and somehow people are still voting for him.

Politics in this country are very scary anywhere you go in the United States. The southern states have typically been known for their ignorance when it comes to…. well most things. And politics is no different.

There is a shift going on in this country where people are moving around looking for a better way of life and states are turning purple. I think we will see this in election results. It might take more than one election cycle but it is definitely happening. On the west side of the country California is moving to Austin in droves.

We are currently living in Florida and have observed that many of the young, educated families are diehard Trump supporters. These young families who blame the government for all their woes. At our local bank we were told that many young families are sucking the equity out of their house in this boom. And their TVs are tuned to Fox News all. day. long. Who will they blame for their poor financial choices?

I have two sisters that fancy themselves the elite of Washington DC insiders. They would never lower themselves to even come and visit. They are stuck in the past. Our country is changing very rapidly. More than ever, it is time to take the time and vote.

We still own our home near DC. Our renters are moving to Florida this summer. Florida is full, people. And you hate it, remember? Stay up north. It’s so much better.

In which town? Nothing is selling in Miami.

We are about an hour from Tampa near Inverness.

You moved to landlocked FL near a body of water called "Cooter Pond'? Sounds delightful.

I’m only a few miles from the coast. I live near Crystal River which is amazing! We sail, kayak, scuba dive, and hike year round. I can be in Tampa in an hour and in Orlando in an hour. My pool is warm enough to swim in almost year round. (Year round for sure if I use the heater.). I live in one of the highest points in the state. Hurricanes are not a concern for us. We get the wind and rain, but no flooding. Cooter Pond Park is actually really pretty.

I’m sorry you are so unhappy where you are. I’ve lived all over the US and in three very different places overseas. I’ve found great things about everywhere we have lived. But I love Florida. 🐊

Of course your pool is warm, your yards away from the decommissioned nuclear plant.

I thought we were talking about central Florida, not Spring Valley?

Why did you move to Florida? People are moving there are doing so because they like it. The extra freedom and the lower taxes included. So why would you want to change it into a place you and many others just moved from?

Judging by the outrageous numbers of Florida plates I see on the roads around DC these days, it would seem the Floridians are moving here...

DP who also moved to Florida two years ago. You seem to assume that Florida is a state full of nothing but Republicans which is far from true. In fact up until very recently registered Democrats have outnumbered registered Republicans for many many years. All over the country more Republicans are registering and voting because with Trump they realized they can vote people like themselves into office. The results of this may make you very happy but for many of the rest of us it is very scary.

This "extra freedom" you speak of is akin to letting the inmates run the asylum. The results are not welcomed by all, trust me.

they want the low taxes but DC culture. Double dipping, IMO. It's like those people who move to red states that are banning abortion because of the lower taxes, but if they ever need abortion, they'll just go to a blue state. Best of both worlds. Lucky for them there are still blue states, I guess.

They are either snowbirds or visitors.

buying our snowbird home there and while we wanted Cape Coral, we're waiting to see how that area recovers from Ian. We'll go between 3 homes (2 in the midwest) but legally, I suppose we'll be Floridians and hope to help turn the state Blue.

There's a lot of state tax cheating taking place in this area. Cars are tied to 2nd homes in Florida that they picked up during the pandemic.

Go by the drop off lines at the more expensive privates in DC. Lots of FL and TX plates.
