You are so lucky that your teacher cares about her students enough to make this sacrifice for their well being!

She’s not wearing a mask because she “cares about her students”. She’s immune compromised. What a stupid comment.

If she's immunocompromised she's way more likely to get sick and then pass those germs along to her students for whom she isn in close proximity. One way masking isn't ideal but it does protect a sick person from infecting others as well as protect a vulnerable person from getting sick

Yes and far more likely to be out for a long time if she does get sick. Is that good for your kid, op?

I'm by no means an "anti-masker" and encourage students and families to do what they need to do to feel safe at school. I fully expect some to continue wearing masks this fall and plan on having them outside with me tomorrow morning as we welcome our students into the new year. I feel fortunate that our students and staff are respectful of other's choices, and we haven't had issues with teasing in the past about masking. Please encourage your children to do what they feel they need to do to remain safe. I have a feeling we will all be masked again this winter so I'm trying to make the most of things right now.

I think it's going to be really hard to get a mask mandate going again no matter how bad it gets in January. The horse has left the barn in that issue. It's hard to get a read on community spread when so many people are just rapid testing.

Your child's teacher could die. WTF is wrong with you?

Its none of your business why they choose to mask. But, good for them.

How could it NOT be an issue?? All the other 2nd grade teachers were unmasked at open house today… I felt a bit jealous.

This is so entitled.

Exactly.

+1000- looks like you lucked out with a smart teacher who follows the science. Speech delays haven't been shown to have any connection to masks- check out American academy of Pediatrics

+2 Parents like OP are exactly why teachers are leaving the profession in droves.

+1000...THIS! Entitled and gross, feel free to homeschool your child mask free. And instead of being jealous of other maskless classrooms, maybe be grateful your kid even has a teacher, the teacher shortage is no joke.

That sucks, OP. I get it. DCUM is not representative of the mainstream across America. Masking is over everywhere else. I’m sorry your child has to suffer the consequences. Mine are older snd have not worn masks at school since the dcps mandate was lifted last spring. I feel so bad for the kids whose parents are going to send them back this year with masks again.

We let our kid choose. They chose to mask. Don't feel "sorry" for people. You know nothing about their situation. You're not a good person.

Yes, DCUM is full of rabid anti-maskers, but many realize that covid is still very dangerous. The long-haul side effects are no joke.

They don't care.

I don't know why you feel like kids are going to suffer for the fact that someone in their life is wearing a mask.

True, even if people are dropping dead left and right, the anti-maskers will go crazy.

Why is a new teacher wearing a mark relevant to your kid’s delays?

I honestly don’t get it. Is there a theory that a teacher in a mask is less effective at dealing with kids that have learning disabilities?
