People who look sloppy at work

Whether you like it or not how you look can influence how you are perceived in an organization and that can affect career advancement. Performance is the #1 criteria but the “packaging” is also important. I’m sure there are companies out there where that’s not true but they are the minority.

Exactly. Posting reasons why you can't be bothered, or asserting it doesn't matter because you don't want it to matter doesn't change the objective reality that people react to appearances - in both social and professional contexts. To assert otherwise is simply wishful thinking.
