Middle age people are dropping like flies

Curious how many were morbidly obese.

Covid has made this worse--outright killing some people; increasing the rate of diabetes, kidney failure, blood clots, strokes, etc. in others; and leading to depression, anxiety, and decreases in screening for cancer and other diseases. Mortality is up overall, including from motor vehicle accidents, suicides, and overdoses.

Plus OP, as you get older, so do your peers. More people die in their 50s and 60s than in their 30s and 40s, and now you know more people in their 50s and 60s than you did when you were younger.

I’ve never heard the bolded before: is there a link to a study or article about this?

Middle aged is began at 30 when I was growing up. Now it's 35 to 65. At 65 you are a senior citizen who can collect social security and get a senior discount at the movies.

This. I know some folks in their 50s who are 400+ pounds. Part of me thinks they’ll beat the odds and live until 75. Part of me thinks the end is likely very, very near.

In my case, zero. Both who died were average to skinny. One survived a stroke. All looked fit.

The morbidly obese middle aged people I know who have had Covid are all alive.

I have noticed this in my own family as well (people of my age are dying, whereas their parents lived into their 90's).

Yes, I think the Boomers are not living as long as their parents. Gen X will probably die even sooner.

They can put on their game face and hide the stress, but are busted when they go to the doctor and their blood pressure is off the charts. But they're training for an Iron Man next month, doing two side hustles, and checking the dating apps for updates. Many do not have enough in retirement savings.

My generation is stressed out beyond imagination, and nobody talks about it. I think there is a connection between stress levels and the topic here.

Agree thanks to our selfish boomer parents who have done zero to prepare for their own demise and expect us to pick up the pieces.

Actually it seems like the Boomer generations parents are the ones that lack funds, have more adult children while living into their 80s and 90s. Boomers have more funds,, less adult children and are croaking early. Go figure.

I know if 4 guys in our work/life circle — 50s. Cancer. But same happened with our fathers decades ago. We were in our 20s and 3 of lost our Dads in a short span—50s, cancer.

Leave it to DCUM for a thread on middle aged people "dropping like flies" to devolve into a boomer hate fest.

Lots of good evidence too, like several people said:

My parents are selfish, my parents are boomers, therefore boomers are selfish.

Boomers have more funds, but spend like crazy too. Boomer's parents grew up in the depression, and then served in WWII. They knew how to save and sacrifice.
My Boomer parents inherited A LOT of money when their parents died. They immediately retired, bought two brand new luxury cars, did expensive remodels on their house, and traveled. All while telling my siblings and I "Don't expect an inheritance from us. We're going to spend every damn penny!"

And what preventative.

Nature is attempting to right itself as boomer removers like covid and selfishness of continuing to block younger people from jobs and wealth

I agree with that observation. I know several middle age people that are struggling with care of elderly parents that are 85+, two of elderly parents pushing 100. They just keep hanging in there, funds are dried up, stress is abundant. The stress is lethal.

How dare they!!!

So, what age are you planning to kill yourself or refuse all medical care?

The problem is that the ratio of boomers to younger folks paying taxes and caring is too high. The heard needs to be culled or we'll have this imbalance

They don't look like they are having much of a life. Some old people will tell you that being old sucks. It's just a losing game, losing friends, losing health, losing independence, losing cognition, losing mobility. Laying in a bed in pain, alone and knowing you are a burden to your family is not really living is it?
