Skimpy clothes don't "make women confident." Women who are not confident (as well-rounded humans, not appealing sexual partners) wear skimpy clothes. And you have NO evidence, other than your dated assumptions, that "many girls are going to get their Mrs. degree." Your use of "girls" is the big tell. |
I'm the pp below you at 15:09 that said some of these are fake. The specific student I noticed was male. |
I’m the PP who made the commodities comment. Yep! A male doing it is also devaluing himself by acting like a commodity. I do think women suffer more, even in our more progressive culture from being treated as commodities. It’s so depressing. Don’t kid yourself that American women are more liberated than others. I’m sure there are some liberated women who post bikini shots, but when a teenaged girl does this, it screams victim of sexism, not warrior against it. |
+1. I love how all the pearl clutchers are trying to deny basic human instincts. Hot = higher social status = hot friends = hot sorority = dating and "mixing" with hot high status rich boys = happy parents. This isn't rocket science. |
Because they are adults and they can, why is this a hard concept to understand? |

Okay, here come the facts…
The spread of photos you see from girls are meant to showcase how good they look in a variety of settings (the individual pic, the “look at all my friends” pic, the “I had a prom date” pic, the bikini pic, and the party pic). They do this because as girls scroll through pictures of potential roommates, they are looking for someone that will look good alongside them in their pics on their Instagram feed. |
A nunnery has a second meaning…brothel. |
