Why the bikini photos?

They want to signal they are "hot". Whether the girls totally understand what they are doing and that they are signalling sexual availability? Some do, some don't. Some girls' parents want them to land a guy in college still, so the man is the plan. The girls with the least amount of clothes or the tightest clothes usually date more guys.

Your views are so evolved.

I hope that you are not raising children in 2022.

Some people care about where society is heading.

What world their grandchildren will be left with.

I am not looking down on the girls but it makes just finding a roommate a nightmare for larger girls (ones that don’t like their size.)

I know there is more body positivity now but still — it’s really discouraging that bikini shots are a norm when finding a same-gender roommate should not be related to your looks.

The girls who do this are insecure and pathetic. Really. If you pay attention the prettiest most accomplished girls don’t do this. It’s sad really. It’s like a train wreck - just look away.

And they drank the kool aid pushed by the media, entertainment industry, etc that women’s primary value is their looks/sexuality.

Parents have to work to counteract this pervasive message.

OP here. While someone had my last reply flagged, all I will say is that it takes a lot to raise a kid these days, especially a confident young female. All I can hope is that I have given my own daughter the right guidance and that she will make good decisions during college.

I'll leave it at that.

Wondering if all college teens do this.

Why? Really? To draw the interest of their male classmates.

My college had a similar book and it was called the "Freshmeat Book."

And have more alcohol and sex.
