Is it really???

Madlax is the better team. With better players.

Then why has NextLevel won three in a row?

They have not.

Madlax beat NL 7-3 in the Fall.

Also Madlax have beaten better teams. Check scores vs common opponents.

Uhhh...Madlax 2028 has also lost to much "worse" teams in the fall. They lost so many games that they changed their team name retroactively after the tournaments were played to Madlax Monuments. What a complete joke.

I think this was for the WSYL they would go as monuments and have to play together for a few tournaments so as not to be a all start team. You are really over thinking this.

Not thinking of anyone specific. Just trying to see where the top talent is headed.

In this age group, top talent is at NextLevel, MadLax is second, and DC Express third. None are perfect. NL has an over-sized roster and a coach who favors certain players, ML has Daddy ball with a toxic element, and DCE has not yet drawn the talent that it was hoping. It will be interesting to see if there is further movement over the next six months, but then the teams will be pretty much baked in for high school.

ML will start to add talent from across the country starting this summer and into HS as the team switches to more of a national team vs capital. Always a fun time for the parents to pay that bill...

So I guess this age group will follow the typical schools. ML will go to Landon. DC express to Bullis and and NL split. You would think they’d go to Dematha but I’m not sure if that is what actually happens.

Are schools aloud to just poach players from other teams?

Parents are free to pay tuition to whichever school they want.

Even if it’s free?

What is the future of DCE? I’m not sure the 27 team will play in the elite division of HOCO. I don’t know if that is the case for any of their older teams. They went 0-5 this past weekend. I know it’s their first year so I hope they are able to recruit next year.

Interesting comment because the 2029 Bethesda Blue team is in the AA division this year in HOCO - dropping from Elite last year.

FWIW: The BLC Blue 2028 team had a solid showing this past weekend that points to improvement over the off-season. They beat VLC, tied True Chesapeake, and lost by a single goal to a solid Leading Edge squad from New Jersey. They still have holes and a talent gap with the upper echelon teams, but have upgraded with good athletes at a number of positions, especially midfield. They will play in HoCo elite division this Spring and probably struggle to win more than 3-4 games. But there's significant improvement over last season.
