| There was a reason that the bumper stickers the Washington Post thought it would be a great idea to include in one of their additions of their fish warp would include a bumper sticker that proclaimed "Washington is a Capitol city" and it ended up on DC police cars modified as "Washington is a pit city" |
Also so much gum on the sidewalk, and rats. I agree that quality of life starts with the little things. I barely eat out in DC. It's just so roachy and ew. |
DC can’t change the fact it’s adjacent to Virginia. |
Exactly. |
More like the opposite. But at least if DC’s armed thugs cross the river they are more likely to be arrested, face serious charges and serve hard time. |
He is running in W3 and he isn't an idiot. Saying that our cops aren't cost effective and that he has a plan to increase efficiency isn't a bad argument. |
We actually get some armed thugs coming into DC from MD. It all sucks |
VA is where DC's guns come from! Thanks, VA! |
Sounds like a pretty stupid argument actually. Somehow only this dude found the secret to solving crime without police that no one else the world over has been able to figure out. |
So DC has the highest police per capita of major cities in this country? If more cops and more incarceration is the answer, why hasn't it already worked? Seems like calling for an audit to see how our police spend their time is the most rational thing we could hope for in a policymaker. |
| Police have no duty to prevent crime. |
| One thing lacking in DC is a crime camera system. Shocking given that we are also a target for wackos + politically motivated criminals as well. When our car was boosted we discovered there is no web of cameras to track, well, any criminal trail. Same with homicides - there were no cameras at the firehouse in Tenleytown where the Uber driver was shot. I don't think his attackers were ever caught. No cameras at a fire station? It makes crime solving really difficult when the city is relying on grainy 7-11 footage. They do have a reimbursal for homes to put up cameras on their property - wish more residents would take advantage of it. They need far more on city properties, public spaces and thoroughfares. Cameras to solve crimes, not just give tickets . |
Starbucks picks their neighborhoods very carefully. If they closed there, it’s a very bad sign. |
Lack of revenue. There are no office workers nearby. AU students have abundant coffee choices on campus. Same strip has a Panera and also a Wawa opened, so direct competition. The issue is not crime and the main crime in that area has traditionally been shoplifting from CVS. |
So did he straight up start with a criminal conspiracy to commit treason, or did he work his way up? |
