This is an argument for lifetime masking. What a dystopian world. FYI - Arlington is at medium level now, and even with the CDC's completely arbitrary guidelines, they're not recommending people wear masks. Kids are having mental health problems in Arlington and elsewhere, but we're not hearing of any where school has been normal all this year. There's a reason why humans don't wear masks. |
The prior commenter referred to "people running around like idiots" as the 90% of people who have returned to normal. Wow - some whackos are forever maskers who never want to return to normal (COVID is never going away). I can imagine these people's kids are the ones with mental healthy problems already. These are kids who will later disown their parents when they realize their parents robbed them of a normal childhood for years. |

^^^ sort of fits given the randomness of this thread. |
Ok arbiter of "normal," where do you draw the line? Do kids in wheelchairs have normal childhoods? How about kids who have another physical deformity and have something visible on them all day? Kids who have special diets and can't eat the same foods around their friends, foods that are considered "normal." I just want insight into your brand of idiocy for consistency's sake. |
It’s masking when needed. High levels of covid, flu, whatever. It’s a mask. They work. You may want to talk to a doctor about your irrational fear of masks. It’s concerning. |
Lifetime, forever masking -> people have lost their minds We've know for 100+ years that masks don't work for the flu. There's 14 random control trials on in the last few decades. You need to follow the science. The random control trial for COVID showed cloth didn't work and surgical barely did for those over 50. Thus, kids in paw patrol masks that are barely on their nose do 0. Again, you need to follow the science. 1/2 the kids who are masking are wearing a surgical or cloth mask, which shows me their parents don't know anything and are just sheep. Sad for such a well-educated county. |
Some of us have figured out how to buy high quality masks. Sorry you have been unable to do this. |
This. ![]() Truth. |
Try to figure out if there are any underlying issues. Is he having problems fitting in socially? If it’s just academics then yes that will change with IB. |

+1 My kid (who wears a mask) plays sports, plays with friends, goes to school. etc. I even saw them and their friends making funning faces at each other. They were all laughing hysterically at each other, even at the funny faces my masked child was making (lots of hand gestures and silliness all around). What exactly is my child missing? |

You really don’t think it’s possible that there are downsides to not displaying or seeing most of your/someone else’s face? Bizarre. |
