Which obscure celebrity do you love

I also have a list of Hallmark/Lifetime Christmas movie stars that I commit to watching all of their bad movies. Jake Epstein from Degrassi is the king of that list now.

Omg, Craig! I will have to look out for his movies next Christmas!

Fun thread, OP, and reminding me about many actors I enjoy!

For me, it's Timothy Omundson. For those who don't know the name, he was irritable Detective Lassiter in "Psych" and, about as far from that role as possible, sexily murderous Cain in "Supernatural" among dozens of other roles over decades. Loved his comic acting and singing in the obscure musical comedy "Galavant." Just incredibly versatile and clearly always relishing the work.

I already loved his work as an actor when I found out that as a person, he's phenomenally positive in the face of life-altering adversity. Omundson had a massive, nearly fatal stroke five years ago that partially paralyzed him -- just after he had shot a pilot for a new series, and weeks before he was supposed to shoot the first "Psych" movie. It truly looked like, if he lived, he wouldn't walk again and certainly wouldn't work again, and he was only 47. But amazingly, he's acting again, in roles incorporating his disabilities, and is always astoundingly frank about his body and the challenges of acting now. Seeing interviews with him since his stroke has made me admire his attitude. (BTW, if you watch "This Is Us," he played Gregory, Kate's neighbor who was a stroke survivor.)

It’s ok, he’s 31 so not that much younger than you!

Wow! I clearly didn't do my research--yes I do feel less cougar-y knowing that

Yes, there was a fair bit of press about it when the show first came out. He’s cute and decent in the role but it is odd that they couldn’t find a more age-appropriate actor to pay that part.

Did you watch The Detour? We got through three seasons before we lost interest - but she was really good in it.

Yes, Lassie! I didn't know he is acting in other shows now, too.

Yep. Did a great guest shot on the medical drama "New Amsterdam" that's worth watching. Recently shot a guest role in a pilot for a new show. And with each of the three "Psych" TV movies so far he's doing more and more on screen. He will never be back to the way he was (and he says so, himself) but he's embracing working with a greatly changed self. And if you like "Psych," there's a weekly podcast he does with Maggie Lawson (Juliet). His level of positivity amazes me-- I could never be both so blunt about all I'd lost and at the same time so upbeat about moving forward.

Benanti fans should look on YouTube for her many turns as Melania Trump on Colbert's show. She was incredibly funny. Colbert constantly struggled not to crack up when she was doing her thing.

Going to have to direct your gaze to "Galavant," streaming on Hulu. She's in it and is adorable (even when she's a tad homicidal). Very goofy, fourth-wall-breaking faux-fairy-tale musical comedy but not for kids. She's a charmer for sure and gets some of the best songs.

She's not obscure anymore because of Bond role, but Lashana Lynch when she was in Still Star Crossed hooked me right away.

DP, not the one who posted Suchet, but he's amazing. Definitive as Poirot but great in many other things too. If you like drama based on 19th century literature, find the TV miniseries "The Way We Live Now." It's a fantastic novel and the TV version with Suchet (and Matthew MacFadyen, and a very young Cillian Murphy) is excellent. The novel basically predicted the idea of Ponzi schemes. And no schemer is more awful than Suchet's character.

I was lucky enough to see Suchet in an Arthur Miller play in England a few years ago ("The Price") and he was fantastic in that too. Just so versatile.
