Who is bashing the school? People are saying the building and area is awful and they would not send their kid there. Just facts. Do you dispute this?

Funny because I know A LOT of families who have already accepted and plan on attending despite these facts. Can't imagine they have better waitlist prospects for 5/6 unless they plan on late exit for burbs

Wait until the school year starts. That will tell you how far they will go into the waitlist and if families actually plan on sending their kids there. Some may have accepted but are currently exploring or looking at exit plans

That doesn't fit with previous comments about parents just trashing school to nudge the WL movement in their favor now. No one wants to wait until start of school year to transfer. Even more so at a new school.

You should track the Walls HS list - we were mid 40s and already got in

Yeah, almost no one from Basis is going. Sound like lots of others are saying no too.

Shame they dropped the admissions test.

The person with the conspiracy theory above is nuts, and if you believe that, I’ve got a new Mercedes to sell you for $100. My point is that those that accepted early will start dropping off and decline their seats within the next 3 months, before school starts, as they finalize their exit plans with moving WOTP, to the burbs, or out of the area. Others exit plans will be hoping for movement of the wait list of their higher rank schools to get spots which for some will happen.

It’s early still and lots will happen with the waitlist. Circle back end of August and there will be your answer.

Normally a large number of Latin kids go to Walls but that is not the case this year. I think it's a combination of Latin's high school program becoming increasingly more robust and Walls losing a bit of luster.

Could be. Could also be nothing more than DCUM doing what DCUM does and seeing everything through the prism of their own preconception. Looking at the historical WL data Walls they have made at least 50 WL offers by June in every reported year.

I also know several people who aren't leaving Latin because they want to be able to use sibling preference for their younger siblings so they can get into Latin. Nothing to do with Walls.
