At what HHI did you love to McLean?

We are in McLean and our neighborhood has this, 9-10 similar age kids on the block and they hangout and play together. I think we just got lucky.

We are in mid 30s, bought a TH in Vienna when we got married, and then bought a SFH in McLean after having 2 kids and WFH. We paid 1.7m at 2.6%. We love McLean, much easier to drive to DC,MD, Tysons and no congested street and traffic lights like maple Avenue. Kids really like their school and preschool here too!

There are many such neighborhoods in McLean. You can find them by using a bit of common sense. Look at the areas around the various parks in McLean, away from the busy streets.

I can’t imagine taking so much pride in largely confining oneself to one area in NoVa. It’s not like Clarendon is Paris.

My company just moved to a building opposite the Clarendon Metro Station. The two restaurants in our building closed and at lunch there are maybe four to six people in any of the restaurants, even the decent ones like Maison Cheryl, Lyon Hall, Circa, and Liberty Tavern. The stores are closing and being replaced by restaurants that the area can't support. We live near Lee-Harrison Center and Westover, and both places have more people and energy.

I suppose Clarendon is okay for the young people who go to the bars but I was surprised at how lifeless it is during the week.

There are a couple of new apartment buildings that just started leasing right in that area- a few hundred new units. I have no idea why more people aren't out at lunch but it seems to have gotten a little sadder there during and post-Covid.

We did the same except our townhouse was in a different city. I do think dolley Madison and old dominion have traffic in McLean but it’s ok outside rush hour.

We love Mclean. Moved here with HHI of $700k or so and bought a house for ~$1.4M. Lots of good neighborhoods for families. Housing stock is not particularly attractive but that is a tradeoff for location, schools, etc. Hard to go wrong unless you want to be in an urban/walkable area and while there are a few walkable areas in Mclean no one would call them urban or exciting.

Bough in McLean for 800 in 2011, when our HHI was around 200. We have since built a new house valued around 2.5M and make 450k

+1. We moved away from McLean for this reason. But to answer the question, I didn't think HHI really influenced the love -- you either love it or you don't.

We've lived in both DC and other suburbs and there's no place we liked better than McLean. It's the perfect balance of proximity to the city with suburban amenities and great schools.
