Went to Five Guys and guess what I paid (inflation)

Also, even the smallest fry should be shared with at least one person.

This. 99.999% of adults who are not NFL linebackers would be fine with their “little burger” (not remotely little) and their overfilled, spilling out in the bag small portion of fries.

Yeah, I always get the "little" burger and "little" fries and smallest drink. It's about right for one person. The "regular" is for a teenage boy / young adult male athlete.

5 guys sucks and has always been a racket. Shake shack is worth it though.

Now a nugget meal + pie is $14 in Los Angeles, so I guess I’m done with that. makes me kind of sad, because I’m poor and cook everything at home from scratch and I just really looked forward to having a junk meals once a month. I had a whole ritual of watching a junky show while eating my junk food and it was just an indulgence I looked forward to every month. Things are so hard right now and I feel like I’ve cut back so much, I just felt defeated having to get rid of my last little treat. Trying to save up to leave California because it’s too hard to make it here.

I went on the app and made an order from a McDonald’s in LA. A 10 piece nugget meal and an apple pie came to $11.58

Did you look in the South Bay? In case you’re unaware, McDonald’s prices vary from location to location.

Shake Shack is stingy with their fries and their seasoning.

I noticed the same thing OP. I never go there but had a crazy craving for one. I paid over $20 for a burger, fries, and ice tea. When the guy said it would be $20.27 or close to that, I reall could not believe it. You can get it for that price at a decent sit down restaurant. Never again unless I am on the road.

I can’t believe that even Jack in the box which is disgusting, is $20 now.

Good, you probably eat too many fries as it is. I wish more places would be stingy with the food they are serving to people, especially the stuff that is making people obese. American portions are out of control

If Five Guys was "stingy" they could probably reduce their prices.

Order the little burger (the size of a regular hamburger with one patty) and the little fries, still more fries than one person can really eat. You will cut the price almost in half.

In all fairness, the regular burger has double the meat of what a serving would be be
and the regular fry has probably 3-4 servings. You want to eat like glutton, you are going to pay more now. Maybe people will think about how much food they actually need to eat now

The little hamburger is 542 calories just for 1 patty + bun, not including any toppings.

The little fries is 528 calories.

So if you eat just those, it's over 1,000 calories -- more than half your caloric intake for the day. Add a shake and that's another 670 calories -- so a Five Guys meal of burger, shake, and fries can easily cover your entire 2,000 calorie needs for the day.

When I go, I get just the little hamburger and choose toppings that are low cal, so basically all the fresh vegetables and then mustard, but no ketchup or mayo.
