Hard no.

Why not?

Not sure PP’s reasons, but I definitely agree with the hard no with Anselms.

OP, look at K-8s at this point. We started DD at one in 6th this year and it has been great, and we also applied late-- like about this time last year. There is hope!

If you want progressive, try Lowell, Green Acres, Oneness, Sheridan,

More traditional, try Norwood, St. Patricks, Woods Academy

If you want something very non traditional, try Waldorf or Templeton

We are at one you named and absolutely would not select a school with grades 6-12 again for a middle schooler.

But getting into GDS etc in 9th is way way harder than 6th. So you give up a lot aiming for k-8s

As much as you probably believe so, not everyone wants to attend GDS for high school lol.

You give up a lot aiming for a middle and upper that’s in one school.

I'm hearing Springwell still has spots available. They have rolling admissions.

We've done both and there is no significant difference. Both worked fine for our kids.

Doubt that very much.

It's not NW DC and it goes up to 12th, but I feel like I always hear about Bullis in Potomac having openings to fill.

St. Andrew’s sounds like it might fit what you are looking for! No idea if there’s space but you could give them a call…

OP, I don't know if you are new to the area or new to private schools, but you may face long odds getting your child into a school for 6th grade next year. Admissions just wrapped up the process about a month ago. There were a tremendous number of applications for private school due to lingering issues (post?) COVID. Some schools took fewer students than previous years because too many accepted their offers last year. Lots of waitlists and rejections. If you are a full pay and have high-powered connections, use them. There's always an outside chance of landing a slot because parents get transferred or change their minds about private school, etc. Just go into this with low expectations. As others have stated, you may have some luck with K-8 schools, but then you have to go through the headache of applying out for 9th.
