NP. The single thing I see presented as "new" which is a matter of fact -- and not opinion -- was that she had a "diagnosis of epilepsy." That isn't what was represented in the excerpts from the medical record before.

If the NYT printed that AND it is not verifiable, it would exemplify a shoddy level of fact-checking. I remain interested in that and in why she had a "feeding tube," the reason for which has never been clarified. All of this sounds like some dramatic psych stuff. If it goes to trial, that would come to light. Will it go to trial? If it does, would her legal representation back out?

Re-read the article. There are numerous new facts here. For example:

1. Eyewitness reports about her condition when she arrived at the hospital. With more detail than previously reported.

2. Federal loan application qualifying statement.

3. Mother’s involvement with Penn right from the beginning.

4. More detailed contemporaneous notes from her diary.

5. Derailed report from social services and interview statements from professionals about the home situation.

6. Statements fro othe parents & school personnel.

Seems to me all of what is in the story is pretty easily verifiable. Except for what actually went on in that girl's house. And FWIW, I believe her.

I will also say, this is a perfect example as to why people do not come forward with domestic and sexual abuse. Abusers with money game the system to prove their innocence and punish the victims. And victims are dragged through the mud time and again.

Any mother who *laughs to investigators* when asked about her BF molesting her daughter has a screw loose. I cannot take the mom seriously at all after that. Then the BF denies it happened? Even though there’s contemporaneous evidence that it did? And he’s been reported to police *twice* previously by girlfriends? And yet the mom blew off her daughter’s concerns about him? This is a ducked up family.

Also, what was the bit about her mom calling police when the BF showed Mackenzie his gun? It was sort of dropped in there with no context.

Nobody ever admits fault in something like this. Even Penn was duped in admissions — where it’s pretty obviously the more elite Ivies and Stanford clearly smelled her bogus b.s. from a mile away.

I have a child who has made allegations of abuse that were not true. DC talked about it with police, social workers, etc. Whenever I was questioned about it by professionals, they believed me right away. Although my child is not being abused, it kind of sickens me that all of them took what I told them at face value and never really investigated the situation. Why did they believe me? I’m an UMC white woman, just like Carrie Morrison.

Famous example happened in DCPS with a rich teach for America teacher accused of assault so the delinquent boy’s family could sue. They successfully sued but I believe crim charges were dropped? Teacher was fired or resigned and became a lawyer, I think.
