Most medical professionals don’t even use N95s, certainly not all the time.

There’s a wacko dad in our PTA that keeps composing about this too. Some people will never be happy.

Oh, they do. And if you work in a medical building where they don't, that's something you need to take up with management.

I was at a doctors office today and didnt see one N95. Plenty of KN95s, what looked like KF94s, and surgical.

The mask put in my staff mailbox this week was different than the one we received last week and was not even wrapped in any packaging!

When I saw the thread title, my first reaction was that it was OTT conspiracy stuff, because of course the FDA does not certify or otherwise approve KN95/KF94 masks. However I did read through the Reddit link and saw the Twitter posts and my reaction is a lot different now. It just confirms my belief that MCPS is hopelessly incompetent.

I think there was mass confusion on the KN-95 front when the FDA revoked the emergency use authorization (EUA) for these masks, which don’t get certified by NIOSH (only N95 masks are NIOSH-certified). The EUA was made in 2020 because of the mask shortage. I think the FDA was also concerned about rampant counterfeiting of KN95s and some masks that didn’t meet filtration standards.

Anyway, we still buy several well-known brands of KN-95s because my impression from reading the overly complicated government text is that they were at least sampled and tested. But we only buy them from an authorized reseller, and we look at the earlier filtration test results.

Our school staff did not receive any new masks this week.

I got a pack of 5 cheap ones today. I am expected to where the same mask for five days. You wonder why teachers are going to vote no confidence…

MCEA members are losers.
