For me, the problem is less the symptoms and more the “not being able to leave the house to buy food and cough drops”. Nothing wrong with anticipating all of your potential needs when you’re sick!

Sure you can. Just go through self-checkout.

Congratulations on being part of the problem. We know you don’t care, so don’t bother clapping back with “HURR DURR I DON’T CARE!!! OMG!!!!”

Make sure you all have KN(% masks and do your best to stay well - the treatments are getting better.

For now -
Start a grocery order online now that can be delivered if you get sick.
Take prebiotics/probiotics, Quercetin, Melatonin. Zinc. Stock up on meds for fever and cough and congestion.
Get a lot of sleep now.

Look into antidepressants which are now being used to treat Covid I hear.

Do not take health advice from this person.

Fully vaxxed and had covid, fevers chills and aches. It was not a cold.

Most people barely feel a thing. Bad luck for you to be in the unlucky minority.

Deny, deny, deny. Cover your ears and chant LA LA LA I CAN’T HEAR YOOOOU IT’S JUST A COOOOOOLD.”

Fool.

We are living this right now and here are the things I wish I had done:

- Find a handful of over the counter rapid tests. COVID testing is hard to schedule right now. I couldn't find any appointments until the end of next week and the over the counter tests from Amazon aren't scheduled to arrive for another week. I found some over the counter rapid tests at CVS - the cashier has them behind the counter.
- The pediatrician suggested we alternate Motrin and Tylenol for my 4 year old every 3 hours. So, have children's Motrin and Tylenol on hand. My 10 year old can take Triamenic, so I also purchased some of this.
- The revised quarantine for fully vaccinated people who can keep their mask on is for 5 days. You are asked to wear a N95 type mask for the next 5 days. So buy some of those if you don't have any.
- Dehyration is a challenge, so juice, popsicles, etc to keep the kids hydrated.

Best of luck!

For the life of me I don't know why people are looking for tests. I was just at CVS and people keep asking. Why haven't they ordered them to have in the house for when they need them? It's only in the last day or two that it's become harder to get

Most people went to clinics to get tested when they had symptoms. Now the appointments aren't available or the lines are a mile long. Schools are asking for students to be tested before returning next week.

How did I prepare?

I read a ton of medical study articles to educate myself about what might help if God forbid I get it.

We’re not in a pandemic of a cold. Grow up.

Vaxed kids and and boostered adults are getting very minor illnesses.

Not true for the majority of vaxxed and boostered adults and vaxxed kids I know over the last couple of weeks. Much more like the flu than a cold, so it makes sense to prepare. Not devastating but not at all fun in my family’s experience and among my friend group.

Helpful thread. Most of this stuff will be useful sometime in the next year. If not for COVID, the. For flu. Etc.

Most people I know were asymptomatic or had runny noses.

Actually, this person is spot on. I would have done all these things had I gotten Delta. However, I don’t think omicron warrants any special treatment at all. I know about a dozen people who have had it and they all say it’s like a mild cold.

If they were sick a few weeks ago, it was delta, not omicron.

They were sick for a day or two in the last 10 days. Many had fully asymptomatic family members (who tested positive.)

Good for you. Most patients I treated - even the boosted ones - were very sick.

Well doctors/nurses usually only see people who are quite sick so their perspective is distorted

Op a pharmacist I know recommended Alka Seltzer cold and flu as it has ingredients that hit all omicron symptoms. We got some of that as well as Mucinex Fast Max, some Vicks Vaporub for congestion and some cough drops with soothing stuff for the throat. Basically, typical cold and flu meds. We stocked up now so if we wake up one day feeling cruddy we have them and don’t have to go out sick or risk shelves being bare. But that’s about it. I’m a teacher so between me and my own 2 kids I fully expect we get it soon but it’ll be ok.
