Our house was 750k and we got a bottle of champagne and 4 or 5 small (10-15 dollar) gift cards to local food/coffee places.
Exactly! This person is not your mother, not a relative, they're not even a friend, so why would you have such high expectations from someone you barely know (that's right, you barely know them -- if you can't tell me little personal details such as; when their birthday is, what their kids full names are, where they went on their honeymoon, where they went to college, etc, then you barely know them). You should ALWAYS go in with the mindset of "it will be nice if they do, but if they don't, that's ok too" because their gift doesn't reflect anything at all about me. |

Get the $ss back from his/her commission. That is the new trend. I got 1.5% of his overall 2.5% commission in my last transaction. Everything else is just trivial compared to thousands of $ss you get otherwise.
Our realtor in 2010 gave us a $50 target gift card on a $550,000 house that we found ourselves. We still remember and won’t use her again. She made something like $10,000 for 3 hours of work including paperwork with mistakes. Do better.
Who cares
We negotiated a 1/2% rebate on the 2 1/2% commission they got from the seller. We got a nice framed painting of our house and a gift card to a restaurant. House was 1 million.
Best I got from my relator is cash back when I purchased a home. He easily gave me 1% from his commission and it got adjusted in my purchase price during settlement. This beats all the other gifts on this post.
