If you were a psych major, what kind of work are you doing now?

OP here -- Thanks to all who have responded! I didn't expect that there would be so many and that so few of them would be snarky . . . because DCUM. Do psych majors self-select for a tendency to be helpful to others or was that a byproduct of majoring in psych?

I intended pursue a psyD, but life happened and I never went back. I have worked a variety of jobs from retail to preschool teacher to ABA therapist, but have never made over $40k.

Got a Psych degree and worked in Fintech right out of college. Psychology was useful especially when I become a manager.

You just proved the point that you can’t work in the psych field with only a bachelors.

So what? The major isn't useless if it's considered general and rigorous enough to get positions in a range of fields. People major might major in French Literature, History, Biology, Anthropology and not get a job in any of these. That's the point of a liberal arts education--the quality of thinking you develop in critical reading, writing, research and analysis are what make you eligible for a wide range of jobs, not just historian, biologist etc. Most non-vocational majors either lead to a job that relies on being generally educated OR require specialized training to advance in that particular field.
