Thank you!

Trump called Clinton a nasty woman in the third debate, and she and her supporters took it on as a mantle.

Does this help?

It comes from the debate where trump murmured "such a nasty woman" when HRC was confronting him on his tax returns

I think it was directed at another critic of DT, not HRC directly.

No, he said it about Hillary during the debate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OW-yRvpim98

She called Trump supporters "Deplorable" and then HRC people had to come up with a name for their team. Trump called HRC (not her supporters mind you) a "nasty woman" and her female supporters are now calling themselves "nasty women" in support of Hillary.

Yeah, her contempt for Trump supporters is pretty darn clear. Well, right back at her.

Not all of them, just the ones who are part of the Aryan Nation and KKK. Glad you like to share company with those deplorable folks. Your mom must be proud.

Could someone please explain for me why Trump was raked over the coals for calling her a nasty woman? And I ask this as someone who voted for Hillary today.

She was being "nasty" in that moment. Is it a situation where anything he said would be blown out of proportion because he's such a vile person. Or am I missing some underlying malice in the phrase?

How about he could have said "nasty comment" instead of making a global assessment about her personality? Or better yet, he could have not said anything along those lines and kept it presidential, focusing on substance and responding to the substance of her comments? They took jabs at each other, and for him to suddenly pretend to take the high road by taking offense at her jab was ridiculous. Or maybe he wasn't pretending and was really offended, which is just another instance of his ridiculously thin skin, which doesn't bode well for presidential behavior.

She wasn't being nasty in that moment at all. And if you think she was, I can only hope marine what you thdid know of the fact that Trump constantly called her names-even to her face-this entire campaign.
He contends that he is proud that he used the tax laws to his advantage (as he calls it) so shouldn't be like that Clinton thinks he can find away to avoid even more payments?

Anyway, as soon as I heard him say it I knew "nasty women" would become a rallying cry. Because it echoes every insult thrown at every woman who doesn't "know her place." Why can't you be a nice girl and go what I say? Ugh.
If you can't see the layers, I can't help you. But it's all there. And it has nothing to do with needing a name for her team or the term "deplorables " at all.
