because they were standing in line when the doors closed? If you are in line when this happens, you still get to vote.

If people are in line before the polling time ends they are permitted to vote. Now I don't know if they are allowed to change the early voting time rules (if more people got in line after the polls were supposed to close), but I can't imagine there were enough voted in that short time period to actually make a difference in the results.

I think it's saying they were allowed to show up/line up after the doors closed, and were still allowed to vote. Apparently a lot of Latinos voted early. I hear they don't like him so much.
