Do you watch?

No - but I'd like to - what are some options?

FWIW, my daughter is very into K-Pop, esp. the group Got7

NP here - some of my very favorites have been:

Healer (watched this twice, which I never do but I loved it that much)
City Hunter (I found the ending slightly meh, but not enough so to ruin the rest of the show for me, it was great)
Answer Me series (1997, 1988, 1994 in that order - so so good)
Shut Up: Flower Boy Band
Misaeng
Pinnochio
Return of Iljimae

If you're interested in trying out a few shows, it's worth a DramaFever subscription, which is like $4/month.

I'm not as into the more "makjang" style shows because I have to be able to relate at least on some level with the characters, but I LOVE the somewhat more realistic style KDramas, like the I Need Romance series. Anyone have recommendations along those lines of shows you really liked?

If you want more realistic, try 'on the way to the airport'. Currently airing and sooo good. It's on Viki.

Interesting - I loved the 80s Anime of City Hunter way back in the day; I didn't know there was a new series. Is it an over the top comedy (like the anime) or is it fairly grounded?

No, it's not really comedy (although there is a lot of levity), it's a more serious revenge / love story for the most part. I'd say fairly grounded, not realistic, but relatable. I loved it, and wish there would be a sequel. I think it came out in 2012, with Lee Min Ho (I think he got famous with Boys Over Flowers, which is totally over the top but somehow hilariously watchable anyway - he is LOVELY to look at, if nothing else) an Park Min Young, who is also in Healer and is totally charming. Worth a watch, for sure!

I haven't checked out Playful Kiss, but sort of read that the story involved the female lead getting treated horribly and still loving the guy anyway - was that an unfair characterization?

Thanks for the movie recs! I've seen Moment to Remember and PS Partner, but not the others. I loved PS Partner, so much more candid than other K-flicks I've watched. I haven't seen another Korean movie like it yet.

I will check it out! I usually wait for a series to end before watching it, since a lot of times they crash and burn in the second half, I wait for positive reviews of the whole series. I've seen really good buzz for the show, though.
