Places to stay in Shenandoah

Anonymous
Besides campsites, is there anywhere to stay for a night in the Shenandoah mtns? We want to hike and have an overnight stay somewhere nice, either a hotel or cabins. We are not interested in tent camping this time.

Inside the park you can stay at Skyland. Outside the park (in the valley) there are lots of options.

What are some good options outside of the park?

Skyland is nice -- not really luxurious but it's cool to stay in the park and it has some history. IIRC there is a hotel-type building and then also little cottages/cabins.

Allstarlodging rents cabins. Or check vrbo.

Tons of cabins on HomeAway. Look in Luray area, or whatever area you are interested in.

DH and I stayed at Skyland once over the summer and once last weekend. I would recommend it. For a "resort" run by the National Park Service and that is nature-centered, it exceeded my expectations. Things were reasonably updated, nice and clean (definitely not fancy). Our room had chairs outside on a patio (and a balcony the first time) overlooking the mountains. There is hiking accessible right from the resort, or a short drive away if you would like something else. The food is about what you would expect (so not awesome, but I had a really good burger there this most recent time), and it's nice that they often have live entertainment at night.

Sperryville is about a 30-minute drive away if you want to go to a different restaurant, or to the whiskey distillery, microbrewery, etc.
