And have you stayed at skyland? Would you recommend?
DH and I stayed at Skyland once over the summer and once last weekend. I would recommend it. For a "resort" run by the National Park Service and that is nature-centered, it exceeded my expectations. Things were reasonably updated, nice and clean (definitely not fancy). Our room had chairs outside on a patio (and a balcony the first time) overlooking the mountains. There is hiking accessible right from the resort, or a short drive away if you would like something else. The food is about what you would expect (so not awesome, but I had a really good burger there this most recent time), and it's nice that they often have live entertainment at night. Sperryville is about a 30-minute drive away if you want to go to a different restaurant, or to the whiskey distillery, microbrewery, etc.
