Why'd? Disney World with 6 month old?

Anonymous
We have been invited by my in laws to go to Disney world in December. We have a 3 year old and a 6month old. I was planning on going to the park with the 6 month old in an ergo carrier, but I'm really afraid of measles and I'm now think I'll just stay in the hotel with the baby while my husband goes to the park with our 3year old. Is this crazy?

Title should be wwyd

Yeah, that's crazy. If you're not comfortable going now, just wait till the kids are a little older.

Ummmm what?

There was a multi-state measles outbreak in 2015 linked to Disneyland.

Right, but that was years ago and across the country from Disney WORLD in December.

So confused.

One can be aware of this, but also not live with the fear that their child will catch measles at Disney World. Disney World is in Florida, not in the land of anti-vax people.

Why measles and why DW? You can pick up measles any where.

Of FFS just go on the trip. I sure hope you are breastfeeding/SAH and NOT attending public events at the library/mall/bookstore/play gym etc. if you are this neurotic.

This is hilarious. My in laws just took their kids with measles to Disney World in Orlando. When people plan trips to Disney, apparently they seem through come hell or high water.

Sorry to disappoint you, but there's plenty of anti-vaxxers in Florida. Also, a number of people from all over the world go there. You may have heard of it.

Right. But the OP's baby could just as easily be exposed at her local Whole Foods. Is she planning to shelter in place until her child gets the MMR?

I highly doubt OP's local whole foods has thousands of people there from multiple countries who have just flown internationally. Look, I took my baby to Disney, I'm not saying it's not okay..but I am saying the idea that it's safe because "people vax in Florida" is a bit ridiculous.
