Help - where to buy a suit for a 13 year old boy?

Anonymous
DS needs a suit to attend classmates' bar and bat mitzvahs. We struck out at Tysons. I would love to find a suit that is slightly fashion forward - we hated the the very traditional ones with baggy pants that he tried on at Nordstrom and Macy's. Would love to spend $200 or less if possible. Thanks for any recommendations.

I am so not up to speed on technology today all these crazy apps and stuff but I heard of this new thing called Goggle...Google maybe?
Anyway here's what came up when I used the search thing-a-ma-jiggy...

I took my son to Nordstrom for his suit. The selection was ok, with the holidays approaching selection may be better now.

Check out Jcrew Factory or Jcrew are probably your best bets.

H&M has slim fit in their men's sizing. Their sizing is European so you will find something. He will have to try it on because the sizing seems counterintuitive. For a HS interview at age 13, I bought my son a navy suit for around $120. Definitely make sure you look for the slim or skinny fit.

Also Zara, Express or Forever 21.

JC Penney is the absolute best. They also have the slim cut suits that the kids like. My son is SUPER picky, but we've been able to find what we need. Macy's, Zara, etc. never work. My son is really hard to fit right now so it's tough.

DS recently attended a bar mitzvah and we just got him dress pants and a blazer from Lands End. Good price and looked nice. He'll likely outgrow both before he needs to dress up like that again so I wasn't going to pay a lot for it.

This is true. And I'm not at all the kind of person that usually shops at JC Penney's.

+1

I bought DS a suit there for a wedding at the beginning of September. Izod brand maybe?

Actually, I bought him the suit, shoes, socks for him and DH, 4 clearance summer dresses for my DDs, a pair of sandals for myself and a pair for my DD, all for $200.

Believe it or not, try Amazon! We found decent cheap suits for our 12 and 13-year old boys.

I've had good luck at Lord and Taylor in Friendship Heights.

Try Joseph A Bank or Men's Warehouse if your 13 year old isn't super tiny. We got my son one at JAB and he's not a big 13 year old. It was a more traditional suit, though, so I'm not sure of what their "modern" selection would be like.

+1. Lands End also has 40% off coupons frequently.
