What do we do with Fairfax County "Sanctuary City" status?

Anonymous
As a resident of Fairfax County, I oppose the concept of us being a "Sanctuary City" very strongly. However, I can find little information on it or how to go about changing it. Where do I go? Who do I vote out? Thanks.

Where you go is to Prince William county, where you will find people who feel the same. Honestly that's your only option.

As for Fairfax County, it runs the fingerprints of every arrestee through the FBI and ICE databases. It also honors ICE detainers. But if you want the cops to start questioning anyone speaking broken English, you need to find another community to live in.

I heard Sharon Bulova declared it. I didn't get a vote. Perhaps we start with her.

There's not an accepted definition of Sanctuary City. According to some sites, Fairfax County is, while according to others, it is not.

Just decide whether you want to live in one or not, and then go with a website that works for you.

Move. Fairfax is becoming more blue, not more red.

I don't think that's true. The fast pace of demographic change over the past decade has ticked off a lot of voters, including Democrats like me. The influx of immigrants from 3rd world countries has caused a budget crisis for FCPS. The cost of ESOL, FARMS, and other services is unsustainable. Other items have to be cut to pay for it. Long-term residents who remember how FCPS used to be realize that we can't continue to take in everyone. Like flight attendants say, you have to put on your own air mask before you can help anyone else. Our quality of life is taking a huge hit and enough is enough.

Common sense people.

Nobody on here is going to hear you out. They're all too busy holding signs to make themselves feel important.

Here are the stats according to Fairfax County Election Results for Presidential Elections:

2000 Dems: 49%/Reps: 51%
2004 Dems: 54%/Reps: 46%
2008 Dems: 61%/Reps: 39%
2012 Dems: 61%/Reps: 39%
2016 Dems: 69.3%/Reps: 30.7%

It's becoming bluer. The same trends continue on the County official level, but I don't feel like calculating them.

True, the trend since 2000 is blue but politics is a pendulum that swings back and forth. If the pendulum swings too far in one direction, it will swing back the other way. i'm a Democrat and very liberal in many ways, but I recognize that unchecked, unenforced immigration laws are not good for our country. If we all suddenly turned South and headed across the Mexican border, you can bet Mexico would stop us. They wouldn't educate our children or find us food and shelter.

I thought it was liberals who were the thin-skinned whiners who couldn't take when people had different views then them.

Suck it up buttercup. Or move to PWC.

Sure they swing, but it's swinging pretty democratic still.

This bill has been introduced in VA - http://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?171+sum+SB1262

"Liability of sanctuary cities for certain injuries and damages. Provides that a sanctuary city, defined in the bill as any locality that adopts any ordinance, procedure, or policy that restricts the enforcement of federal immigration laws to less than the full extent permitted by federal law, shall be jointly and severally liable for the tortious injury to persons or property caused by an illegal alien within such locality."
