Several month ago, I had read the story of Central Park Five (4 Blacks and 1 Hispanic) who were sentenced for rape of a white woman they never committed based on coerced statements. They were exonerated based on the actual criminal statement and DNA match. At that time Trump had released a full page advertisement asking for the death penalty of these youths.
In 2014, he still held these views and released an Op-Ed http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/nyc-crime/donald-trump-central-park-settlement-disgrace-article-1.1838467
Why do you think he believes them to be guilty in spite of them being not? |
| Because Trump doesn't believe in science - not DNA testing, not climate change, and he's a racist. |
90% Blacks will vote for him...Hispanics love him! |
|
In about 8 yrs he will come out and say, "They were innocent. I'm proud that I kept insisting they were guilty until the police were forced to test their dna".
a la birther movement. |
fixed that for ya! gotta get it right. Wouldn't want to misquote the Don.
|
Hahahaha! Well-played! Seriously, yes, Clinton's superpredator comment was outrageous but Trump's behavior vis-a-vis the Central Park 5 was just as egregious. |
| I feel like we've spent the last week and a half of the Trump campaign bringing up things from the '80s and '90s. What's next, promising to invade Cuba and bring Elian Gonzalez back? I wouldn't put it past him. |
| wow, stupid thing to say the day before a major debate. He could have shut his mouth and all that people would be talking about is the hurricane. |
I thought the debate was Sunday? |
he can't help it. Seriously. Look at his twittering thumbs. |
|
I agreed with Trump's ad. he paid for it himself - a huge one page ad that said simply:
Bring Back the Death Penalty. Bring Back our Police. He made a bold important statement. At that time, there were gangs of teens assaulting people in Central Park. It was horrific. Trump is for law and order. he is not racist. He was right back then and he is right now. We need law and order. |

Linda Fairstein has no doubt that the Central Park five were guilty too. There was a lot more to this case than the confessions, which were not coerced. This gang of thugs attacked many people that night. They were in Central Park. They did it. And I am glad that Trump stood up for the victim back then and I am glad he is not backing down now. Mayor DeBlasio made a huge mistakes by paying millions to these perpetrators. |
So, he's right that those boys are still guilty, and that police should break the law in order to enforce the law? |
It's "law and order" to invite Russia to hack your fellow candidate? It's "law and order" to invite assassination of the same? |
Prosecutors don't ever want to admit they sent innocent people to jail. But the DNA does not lie. |
