Winter break destinations- pregnant

Anonymous
I know there's a lot of similar posts, but I couldn't find what I was looking for.

We are looking for a place to go for a week right after Christmas, I'll be 4.5 months pregnant.

Due to Zika concerns, Caribbean is not an option.

We are considering Hawaii, but I am wondering if there are other places that I should consider... they don't need to be warm, but they need to be great for visiting in Winter.

For example, I'd like to save Spain for a summer trip so I can visit the beautiful beaches.

What are Germany and Ireland like? Would you go there in December? any other places I should consider?

TIA

A quick web search gave me weather info for Germany and Ireland.

Germany:
Average Temperatures

in December: Average low 27° F, average high 41° F
in January: Average low 23° F, average high 40° F
in February: Average low 25° F, average high 41° F

I don't feel like looking up Ireland, but you should feel free to. I believe it is a bit warmer than Germany, and doesn't get below freezing as much.

Thanks, I was more curious about what those places are like in December in general, as is festivals, etc. less about the weather.

Haha. That's funny. Eire and Northern Ireland are very much north of Germany. Hamburg for instance, and Berlin are almost on a par with London for weather. They are pretty northern cities and London is south. All of Ireland is much further north than that, and battered by the sea on all sides! Its super damp and super cold!

Do you know about the jet stream?

Are you in DC? I can't imagine schlepping to and from Hawaii while pregnant. It sounds exhausting.

How about a resort in Southern California?

Your ankles will be huge by the time you arrive in Hawaii!
I'd suggest Southern California or Arizona.

Ireland is not generally as cold as Germany. It doesn't get below freezing as much, so although it gets cold, they receive mostly rain.

Really, that bad? I'll only be 4.5 months pregnant. FTM so I don't know what to expect. I'm 8 weeks now, and luckily no morning sickness or nausea yet.

Ireland is all about scenic views. December will be dark, possibly very wet, and may attractions may be closed. Germany, possibly Berlin, would be much better, even Munich and Bavaria, where it may be cold, but probably less wet and dreary, though much closes down for the Christmas holidays. That said, California doesn't sound bad, or St. Augustine, in N.Florida? Weather would be mild, and lots to do.

I went to Barcelona over Xmas one year and had a great time - it was in the 50s, which was perfect weather for walking around. we went to the beach and walked around there too on a sunny day. I would think that would be preferable to England or Ireland.

Thanks everyone. I'm taking Ireland/Germany off the table.

Would Hawaii really be a bad idea? I've never been.

I live the N.Florida suggestion but I go to Florida a lot, and due to Zika (I know it's not in N. Florida) DH has taken FL off the table as well.

I'll be in Southern California in January, so I'd love to go somewhere new over winter break.
