What's the deal? Aren't we all adults?
|
| The advertisers and some work, school, and library environments don't always like such terms or topics. We have an explicit forum which doesn't have advertising exactly for this reason. Feel free to use that forum for all of your adult topics. |
| Just to be clear because I didn't exactly understand the subject, the words are not exactly banned. It depends on the context. It is the sexualized use of the words that is the issue. |
| Here's my rule of thumb. I would not write anything on DCUM that I would have a problem with a coworker reading over my shoulder. |
|
Ok but if they aren't explicit, they are ok? That is what I thought. Then, why do you keep deleting my posts? For example, when I posted this same question earlier this morning?
|
Ok. I would share all of my deleted posts with my co-worker. Feeling particularly puritanical this week? |
My coworker is a stripper too!
|
| Really?? |
| Total BS. |
I didn't even include "sexualization" in this one. What's the problem???
|
| Unless you are cool with some old slimy dude hanging out on mommy forums drooling over any women who can drive a stick??? It's just gross. |
The OP of that thread requested advice about cars. A poster supplied such advice and, in the process, include a phrase to which you obviously objected. The OP, however, replied to that post without demonstrating any objection and actually requesting more information. That is exactly the way we want DCUM to work. On the other hand, a number of posts took issue with the phrase to which you objected and attached the poster for that phrase. The poster, in turn, responded and the thread was turning into a gender war. That is not how we want DCUM to work. I don't know how many times it needs to be said, but don't hijack threads. If you had helpful advice for the OP, please provide it. If not, move on. |

Since you are not a woman, let me explain. I'll womansplain. Sometimes a woman just wants to be a person. A person who likes cars. Or football. Or whatever. And it'd be nice if the guys could stop sexualizing this. In particular on a website dominated by women.
So keep deleting, but it just shows how ignorant you are to what women in male-dominated careers/interests/hobbies face every day. Just let that OP ask a legit question about cars. Don't make it about sex/gender. It's disrespectful to women. |
That is not what happened and you are grossly exaggerating. The poster provided helpful advice which the OP appears to have appreciated. |
| As you can see I did post a few suggestions for OP before that dirty old man started. |
