So....a link to the Leftist NYT. Good one.

In the meantime, HALF of all Americans have seen their net worth swell (mine is up 10% in the last six months alone), and the poorer half (who don't pay taxes and for the most part don't own stock) are enjoying record low unemployment rates and rising wages for low-income jobs.

EVERYONE has gained under Trump. That's why Democrats are blowing a gasket.

Can you freakin read earlier posts? This is deficit spending! Blow through some credit cards and you will also look rich.

Obama ran up the national debt in his first three years way more than Trump has done.

Obama inherited a catastrophic economic situation from Bush; the "shovel-ready" infusion was bi-partisan as where the Congressionally authorized debt relief measures. One shouldn't use interest rate cuts and tax cuts to goose an economy, but that is just what Trump has done. The debt and deficit spending has benefited the 1%. Obama's efforts circulated money back into the system via infrastructure investments that also benefited society - ports, roads, airports, schools etc.

Obama inherited a housing crises because democrats pushed the idea every 'deserves' a house regardless of ability to pay for one.

That is a ridiculously uninformed take. Democrats were not in charge of policy then. The housing bubble was driven by the greed of the financial sector. Housing prices went up much faster than incomes, lenders and investors overexposed themselves in mortgages and mortgage backed securities, and then gave riskier and riskier mortgages to try to keep demand and prices from falling. Congress didn't make them do any of that.

There are at least two parties to every mortgage, one of them being the borrower(s). They were just as much to blame as the lenders and investors. The politicians like Barney Frank did push home ownership heavily. For years and years across several administrations. Don’t be naive.

Well, if you want to improve personal wealth home ownership is important. Also we live in a capitalist society which runs on consumer spending.

Shall I continue with videos of Maxine Waters, Gregory Meeks and Franklin. Raines telling us everything is wonderful and there were no problems about to happen after THEY engineered the whole thing over decades for 'affordable housing'?

Your rewrite of history won't work, democrats.

Affordable housing is better than homeless camps. I know conservatives don’t care about the poor and serve the rich but the poor need representation too.

What's not better is causing a housing crisis because you believe everyone deserves everything. Idiotic democrat policies promote handing everyone whatever they want because they "deserve" it. This causes laziness and a lack of drive and it promotes an entitlement mentality.

It's human nature and you obviously don't grasp it.

The regulations that state give people mortgages even if they can't afford them? ME! The democrat party certainly isn't with all their vote buying.

I agree with everything you said. Now justify Trump's tax cuts.

Have you seen the homeless in San Francisco and Seattle? The far-left won't build affordable housing.

You should tell that to liberal havens like California and New York where homelessness is out of control and it is liberals who run those states.

If the US government still helped deal with chronic mental illness (ie pre-Reagan) a lot of the homeless who are incapable of taking care of themselves would be dealt with. Instead, most mental institutions were closed and "the homeless" started living on the streets; migrating to population centers where they could get better free services and panhandle.

Spectacular performance in the stock market today.

But we know that this is just a continuation of the Obama rally and that the economy is doing so well because of Obama.

Correction: the sages on this forum have said that presidents have little or nothing to do with the economy and the markets ......... and they will hold to this ridiculous notion until the market takes a hit and then we will hear that it was because of Trump - and suddenly presidents will have everything to do with the economy and stock market performance!

The Barney Frank video was from 2003. Bush was President and Republicans controlled the House. Barney Frank did not set housing policy or any other policy. He was a full-time dissenter at that time.

Sub-prime mortgages happened because the lenders, investors, realtors, and homebuilders all wanted them to keep pumping up housing sales and housing prices. Low and moderate income people would rather have bought less expensive houses, but the housing and financial industries were hell-bent on forcing everyone to borrow to their credit limit because that is the only way housing prices could keep rising faster than incomes. Nobody forced the lenders to do it. They schemed to avoid regulation and detection while passing off their mortgages to investors and the Fannie and Freddie. Nobody forced big investment banks and institutional investors to go all in on Mortgage Backed Securities to keep the whole racket going. They were just too greedy to stop themselves. That is what caused the crash. It wasn't because some low/moderate income people were conned into mortgages they couldn't afford. The lenders and housing and investment industries planned for that - they just thought they would be able to foreclose and resell at higher prices to the next suckers, but then the whole scam collapsed on them.
