Bullis concerns

The fact that the Board allowed the headmaster to stay through the entire year of his contract just further proves how incompetent the Board is and how little money the school has.

that some Bullis booster felt the need to request deletion of my recent post about the current headmaster's publicly searchable salary should tell you everything you need to know about the school.

And you.

I had a post delete about Bullis. It was all facts and the truth but they can't deal with the truth. I bet someone at the School monitors this daily. PATHETIC.

no. 14:03 here. Not sure what it says about me other than that I can do the math to say that 20-something tuitions are difficult for a school in financial trouble to eat if they had let him go early. But you can make this personal if you want, but then I could say that says something about you, and around and around we go.

Bullis seems to have some serious boosters on here. I don’t care one way or the other. We got out for many reasons and my kid keeps in touch with a few kids ( HS). Many many kids have left and a large flock after this school year. Families just don’t like where the school is heading. The emphasis or obsession with atheltics and having no standards for athlete admission is bothersome. Yes, booster, maybe a few go on to play at great colleges but we all know how college admissions work for athletes. I would suggest anyone that I considering Bullis to spend a lot of time during the day when students are there, especially lunch time.

It says you have an unhealthy obsession with the school.

the school is desperate for students, in particular, full payers.

The new headmaster is walking into a messy situation

Bullis is not desperate in any way. The enrollment has increased from the low 600's to the low 800's in the past 9 years and I agree that Bullis loves the full pay family but they also embrace those that need financial aid. The Bullis enrollment increase is the most of any school in the area, true it was brought about by fundraising for new buildings; Bullis also purchased 15 acres of land on the Democracy side of campus. Bullis is strong financially and those that state otherwise are uninformed or just taking shots at Bullis.

Then how can you explain why so many faculty have left in the past 2 years?

The schools has taken on massive loads of debt and its endowment is very low for a school that is 50+ years old.

Can we just let this thread die already? It’s ridiculous at this point.

Why is it ridiculous? All families should make informed decisions during admission season. Obviously, all schools show their best during tours and open houses. However, many families who are/have been enrolled in the schools have a different experience and additional information that may be more of the reality. I, for one, want to know as much as possible behind the shiny brochures and fancy buildings. While I take much of DCUM with a grain of salt, I certainly have had concerns raised through this thread and others. It’s more than one or two families with an axe to grind. And that tells me something.

PP vastly overstates the actual content. Complaints are legitimate, of course, but this thread is little more than a bitter ex parent who didn’t do their homework. Everyone. Knows what Bullis is - a private that is widely accessible and good for athletics. But it draws new money that thinks otherwise and then gets bitter.

I’m as tired of this thread as anyone, but I don’t see anything that suggests that there is a single dissatisfied ex-parent. Seems like there are very many to me from what I’ve heard in conversations with actual people in recent years. And I have no idea what generational wealth or the lack thereof has to do with this dissatisfaction. But it’s pretty clear to me that the poster above likes to name call anyone who disagrees with them. We’ve had enough of that in this forum and elsewhere.
