Because they have a large enough pool of teams to have a full schedule. The SFL teams do not so it makes sense for them to join.

At some point, can we get back to the point I was making (I am neither CYA nor a woman, and I don't know anyone named Larlo) about Loudoun keeping its All-Stars together from season to season, which strikes me as unfair to other kids in Loudoun?

Along those lines, I'd argue that Loudoun should form more All-Star teams. Give more kids a chance.

(Note to self: Start a soccer club in Loudoun County.)

LS already has two teams per age group in the allstar tournaments.

A lot of smaller clubs have 3-4 teams in the lower age groups.

Not necessarily. They charge so much for all-star that a lot of good players stay away. Plus they try to pick two teams per age group so those second teams can be pretty good My kid played twice and his teams were a cumulative -50.

No -- all other clubs are government-subsidized and offer all rec soccer, including All-Stars, for free. Referees work for free -- in fact, they pay for the equipment to maintain fields. Clubs make the money they need to exist solely through surcharges on the ice cream trucks that stop by the fields during All-Star tournaments.

That is new. It used to be $160. Another club charged $45.

Perhaps FPYC should charge a little more if they have so much trouble paying their referees. My son was an AR for 7 games and still has not been paid. Each week they claim they are close to mailing out checks. It is disgraceful. No wonder there is a referee shortage.
