Are you forgetting about Georgetown Prep, they beat Gonzaga a week ago. TBH, I would have them ranked #1 given the quality of their victories this spring. 1. GP 2. SJC 3. PVI 4. GZ 5. Bullis 6. STA 7. Landon 8. DeMatha 9. Episcopal 10. Saint Stephens Side note, it’s too bad GP and SJC aren’t playing this spring as it would have been a slug-fest. |
St. John’s has owned Prep. They would have beat them. Good decision by prep. |
It’s a possession dummy and yeah young athletes get excited getting a possession in OT. |
Prep owns the cumulative SJC lax series. I suspect Preps head to head record against the Cadets is closer to 25:5 over the past 30 years. SJC boosters seem to forget SJC had a lax program well before even GP established one. |
| Gonzaga needs some respect. Lost to prep 9-11 in a close one. Lost to culver 12-11 and lost to McDonough 6-5. I’d say they’re top 25 in the country and at least top 4 in the dmv. |
That is a losers type mentality. Gonzaga is good this year, not elite. You forgot to mention the loss to PVI and 2 goal margin victory over the Heights. If they had played Prep in a non-torrential rainstorm, Prep wins by a much wider margin. If Tucker Wade had played last night for Bullis, the Bulldogs win. |
| Season is young. Who cares about respect now. It’s how you finish. Gonzaga and Bullis both looked good last night. |
Maxpreps showing back to 2008 and it’s 5-2 St. John’s. |
I’m sure you can go back in the archives and prove it. |
100 percent agree, great game last night between evenly matched squads. Would love to see an end of year DMV tournament established. Take the top 2 from IAC and top 2 from the WCAC and have 2 at large bids. Winner of WCAC and winner of IAC are guaranteed first round byes. I’m surprised Mad lax founder hasn’t done this yet. |
Season is half way and not young. Can’t do an end of year bc of end of year schedules. These teams all play each other anyway so the schools and coaches don’t see the benefit. Geico field has gotten weaker and with fewer teams. Very little benefit |
Did it at the end of the Covid season. St. John’s won the one and only DC Championships. |
2 goal loss means either team could of won. Heights have kept every elite DMV team to a close game once or twice over the last few years. Played pvi to 3 goals twice last year and nearly beat them the year b4. Kept SJC to like 7 goals too last year…Landon by 1 or 2 this year. GZ is absolutely an elite team in the area! |
| Yes, SJC has had a program longer than Prep has. SJC started in 82. Prep was I think 86 or 87. I was on a team that scrimmaged them when Prep first got a team. They were terrible, as to be expected and we beat the doors off them. We did not play them again while I was at SJC. Prep got better and yes, they eclipsed SJC as far as lacrosse goes for years. SJC has now caught up. I dont think SJC really played Prep much until a few years ago. Prep is IAC. SJC is WCAC. They normally did not cross over alot until maybe 2010. Could be wrong. But, sure I'd give Prep the edge in head to head to head for now. I think SJC beats them if they play this year. But Prep may be the only threat in the DMV to SJC right now. Prep or St, Mary's. |
I guess if you don't know the value of possession, you wouldn't know. And I am no Bullis homer, just realize a possession in OT is worth getting excited about. I was at a college game today with OT and you should have seen how excited the bench got when my team got possession to win it. It matters. |
