Ok, this is just dumb, or we now have Texans posting here. In no universe is Texas at this point equal to the DMV. They are athletic but definitely not skilled. At the end of the day, this sport is about catching and throwing the ball and sticking it in the back of the cage. Period. How big, strong or fast you are can help amplify wherever you might be on the main elements of the sport but they can't compensate. Maybe in 5-10 years we'll see the TX schools competing against St. John's, McDonogh, Chaminade or St. Anthony's but until then. Just stop.

Doesn’t mean they can hit you and beat up your kids which I think was the point you seemed to miss.

Actually there have been some really good skilled players from Texas. Many fly to play for MD and NY clubs. However, there have also been several really good football/lacrosse players. Two are playing this spring at UVA and UMD. Neither are from Texas. Also, my non lacrosse playing friend, back in the day, the physical play was an advantage. Hitting used to be a part of the game. Sadly it no longer is.

The best athletes in Texas play baseball and football.

Lacrosse is still very relatively new in the state, it’s been adopted by several of the wealthy private schools.

As for the marquee football programs in the state, lacrosse is basically viewed as a club sport. Spring football dwarfs lacrosse.

Unfortunately this mentality might limit the growth of the sport in Texas from really hitting its potential.

The best athletes in Texas may play football and basketball, but there are a lot of great athletes playing lacrosse. UVa, #1 team in the country, currently has three starters from Texas - Nunes, Bower, and Saustad.

Bullis players jump around in OT after gaining position. Turn ball over and immediately lose. Is Bullis a serious academic school?
