I've just started watching this show (about halfway through Season 1) and am really enjoying it. A couple of observations/questions:

Jackie seems much older than her husband. Anna Deveare Smith/Mrs. Akalitus is incredibly annoying. What is going on with Dr. O'Hara's private life/stepfather? I'm not entirely clear about that story line.

Seems like a really good show - I'm hooked!

Whoa. Season 1 was a while back for me, but yes i always felt the character of Kevin was played by a visibly younger looking actor. They are supposed to be close in age however, as i think they are in the story, high school sweethearts.

Once Edie starts the botox and grows her hair in later seasons, it kind of closes the gap a bit and you stop noticing.

I watched every season and loved it, but the final season went a little too dark for me. I needed a little redemption by that point.

Without spoilers, she gets a bit of redemption in later seasons.

I actually gave up on the show around season 6, I think. I might watch 6 and 7.

Just finished all 4 seasons on Monday! It is entertaining. Akalitus is annoying the first season, but then her character gets better.

The actors are six years apart in age. (She is older.)

I love this show! They are supposed to be the same age for the story, it just doesn't look like it. Maybe that's the result of working nights.

Akalitus gets much better and more interesting over time.

I loved the show, but it is painful to watch in later seasons. Rings pretty true in a lot of ways, unfortunately.

Enjoy it while you can! The first 3 or so seasons were so amazing! Then it was as if they got completely new writers or something. It just wasn't the same. Eventually it became unwatchable. Really, really, really bad.

From the perspective of a person who has a family member with addiction, the fact that Jackie looks older than her husband is spot on.

I love Akalitus.

I watched it all towards the end of the run and saw the last episodes in real time. It's still one of the great shows. I'm now watching In Treatment and there are a TON of those episodes. Gabriel Byrne is so sexy.

She ended up being one of my favorite characters later as the show goes on. Don't give up on her!

Dr. O'Hara was my favorite from the start (because I adore Eve Best). And then things happened. You're giving me the feels remembering my love of Dr. O'Hara, OP. Man, I might have to do a Nurse Jackie re-watch.

I miss Nurse Jackie, even though her incessant self-destructive behavior drove me a little crazy. I agree, the disparity in Jackie and Kevin's ages (appearance) never made sense. And I liked Akalitus more as time went on.
