Nurse Jackie

It's a good show and it is accurate as far as addiction goes. Because of that it became harder and harder to watch as the show progressed.

The end is so cringe worthy….which is exactly what the end of addiction looks like. Just when you think it can't get worst it does, and then it does again, and just when you think you dont have any bridges left to burn you burn your last one. Watching her lose her marriage and then her kids it just gut wrenching.

I just watched this whole series. It was so good. Did it win any awards in its years - it should have. The writing, the acting, SO good.

As someone with addiction in the family, it rang pretty true to me (as much as a tv show can), which made it progressively difficult to watch, but at the same time I could not stop.

Why are you reading the thread if you haven’t seen a series that is 10+ years old, if you’re afraid of spoilers?

Also saw this for the first time and thought it was excellent acting. It made me hate Nurse Jackie and thought she was despicable, yet a caring nurse. The finale brought her full circle when Zoey told her she was good - a reference to the beginning episode scene where Jackie prays for the lord to make her good.

The ending is left open for debate to if she overdosed on purpose and died. I don’t think she did.

The finale was terrific, especially the full circle with Zoey’s “you are good, Jackie.” I do think she died (I know there was talk of a reboot at some point, but I’m talking about my interpretation of the ambiguous ending), but I don’t think it was intentional, just super risky as it was every time she took drugs. She was an addict, and no matter how much she loved her kids, her job, etc, the urge would always win. That is a heartbreaking reality of addiction.

It’s actually a reference to a paraphrase of St. Augustine’s prayer from “Confessions”, chapter 8: “Lord make me chaste but not right now”. Jackie opens the show praying it. Remember Nurse Jackie is Catholic

Amazon are going to be making a sequel, 10 yrs later story with Edie Falco reprising her role.

I don't know if I can face it. I loved watching Nurse Jackie and felt it was a concluded story.

I read a few months ago that it isn’t going anywhere - is this new news?
