| How much, together, did they make per year? |
|
Over $100k but I can't remember what exactly. I think I saw on some college forms.
House cost $70k.
|
| 250k. A nurse and an engineer. much cheaper area of the country. |
|
Dollars of what year?
My parents made 150K Euros a year, twenty years ago. Enough for us to travel well. |
| When I was in HS, $80k - also saw on some college forms. House cost $113k and we lived in a small town out west. |
| No idea. Money was not discussed like that. We were comfortable bit not wealthy. |
| $88k was the last I saw on a FAFSA application. My dad was the sole employed party and was about 58 then. Today, as a 28 year old with no children, I make $75k. Crazy to think my dad raised 3 kids plus himself on that. |
| Mom was homeless and dad was on disability/handouts from his parents. Doubt they cleared a combined $20,000. |
| Dad was disabled but did not qualify for any benefits. Mom made $40k, but at least housing was cheap, maybe average for region was $80k for 3-bedroom house? (House values are still about that range today). |
Where did you live, with your dad? Sorry, sounds rough. I have family flirting with homelessness and its grim. |
|
My stepdad supported a family of 9 on a salary between $40 and 50k. He died when I was 15 (and my younger siblings were 3, 5, 6) and left a $200K annuity that covered the family for about 10 years and then my mom went back to work. She makes about $30k now.
|
They did not. Euros did not exist twenty years ago. |
| I never had any idea. Who talks about that? |
Families who had to have a hard talk about how they would pay for college. Or not. You have to complete the FAFSA etc and submit their Tax forms. |
| My dad made combined $40K at 2 jobs when I started college (with a sibling a year behind me) |
