Why does everyone go crazy on Janney threads?

And not the other Deal/Key Feeder/mostly affluent schools? Where's the Mann hatred? Why does Lafayette not get flamed despite being pretty identical to Janney in most respects?

Certain Janney boosters cannot seem to stop themselves from sounding obnoxious. Like bad apples, they poison the whole barrel.

It's sickening! I don't even read them. Some of these threads get so off track on race, etc. It makes me not want to even enter, but there's always some good info in between the nonsense.

The reason is that out of all the affluent schools in NW, Janney is the most affluent. It's human nature for the masses to not like the most affluent. It's the reason why lots of people "hate" Microsoft.

There used to be an obnoxious Mann booster, but her child must have graduated because she disappeared a couple years ago. In general. The difference is that Mann and Lafayette (and Much and Key) boosters apparently know how to stay below the radar (aka STFU) and Janney has a few who apparently do not.

NP here. I think that at the outset there might have been a few smug Janney individuals but now I chalk most of it up to trolling. Who in their right mind would say the things that they say? I am more intrigued by the people who earnestly respond to the outlandish statements. They love knocking people down a few pegs. It's like a sport.

I suspect there have been a couple of obnoxious ones, but I also think there are now trolls of that sort to keep the established narrative going about Janney being the epitome of the stuck up WOTP school.

This is simply not true. AU Park is definitely not more uniformly affluent than Chevy Chase (Lafayette) or Spring Valley (Mann). The houses are OK but nothing to write home about. My kids went to Janney -- before the hullabaloo -- and I don't get what changed. Nice school and all but I can't see how it is significantly better than surrounding schools with similar demographics.

It's a large school - so proportionally likely to have both more annoying and also more lovely people.

I do think the Janney boosters who came to the DME boundary meetings left a bad taste in many folks' mouths, fairly or not.

Good point. I also think the fact that they school was significantly renovated/expanded, and then expanded again a few years later, makes it seem like the DCPS/DGS golden child which gets priority in front of other schools which need renovations.

No way, Mann is far more affluent than the rest -- Spring Valley, Foxhall, Kent -- way more expensive than AU park, CCDC or the Palisades.
