So you can actually do it now. But you can’t actually do it now. Got it. |
You can do it now. But more people would do it, if it were safer, more comfortable, more convenient. That's just not a complicated idea. |
Who's "we"? I see it commonly. |
People don’t want to bike because biking fcking sucks. I’m sorry. |
"I don't like bicycling." -you Which is fine, you don't have to like bicycling. Fortunately, bike lanes will not force you to bicycle. |
This is the fundamental dynamic that pretty much guarantees CT Ave be a traffic sewer for the foreseeable future. If the administration/mayor/CRE people are going to make people go downtown, while allowing Metro to death spiral, and you don't want people using a national park or local roads as commuter thoroughfares, then you're going to have all these cars on CT Ave. I don't see how you can do anything but lean into it. Optimize CT Ave for through traffic, and save the rest of the ward from the commuters. That's where the discussion should really go now. |
Look around. We’ve had bike lanes for 15 years and yet they’re empty of any people nearly 100 percent of the time. This has been a failed experiment. |
ffs 300+ pages in and you’re still lying. cabi had a record usage year in 2023. 4.5 MILLION rides! https://ggwash.org/view/92292/bikeshare-beat-cabi-wraps-up-a-year-of-historic-ridership-in-december |
lol.. wow. Okay bud. |
Then don't bike and continuing paying for and using your car 100% of the time? I mean wtf dude. It's about having ANOTHER OPTION THAT ISN'T A CAR. Because bikes are smaller, cheaper, better for the environment, healthier for the user. Maybe its not for everyone but that's okay, because unlike the automobile a bike lane is small and doesn't crowd out all other forms of transportation. |
I do look around. I see bicyclists. It's very disturbing that you are unable to see bicyclists. I hope you're not driving. |
Alternatively, we can prioritize options that enable people to get places without driving and parking. Connecticut Avenue shouldn't be a traffic sewer. |
Bicycling is becoming *less* popular. Even after adjusting for the rise of work-from-home, surveys show fewer people are cycling despite the absurd amount of money the government continues to pour into biking infrastructure. |
Hey it's the drivers-can't-see-all-the-cyclists-everywhere guy! Are you here all day, every single day? I mean, obviously you are. Seems sad doesn't it? Do you have no friends? No hobbies? (Such as riding your bike?) Nothing you like to do except obsessively post on this thread? |
Again, CaBi notched 4.5 MILLION rides in DC in 2023. |
