Greta Van Susteren, one of the top anchors on Fox News for the past decade, is leaving the cable news channel, effective immediately. The stunning announcement was made by Fox News on Tuesday morning. No reason for her exit was given. |
| Hmm... part of the sexual harassment issues there? |
|
I read somewhere that Greta had a clause that said she could leave if Ailes left.
Today, there is an announcement that Fox settled with Carlson and she will get $20 million and an apology Prediction: Gretchen will return to Fox. That's why Greta left. She is an Ailes supporter Maybe, they will eventually give Gretchen Greta's slot. If they do, Big Mistake. |

The Post has an anonymous source that says she is departing because of financial disagreements.
I just hope it is not health-related.... her last day was Thursday and she did not say farewell. I don’t believe Fox would give Gretchen the spot that Greta has had. Two totally different types of shows. Greta’s show is not one that Gretchen would be comfortable with. |
I'm the pp who speculated that they would. I agree that it is totally different--but, if you followed the news and reports about Carlson, it is clear that she wanted to be in prime time. There were notes that she wrote to Ailes requesting that she be on the debate team--if not as a questioner, as an analyst. I don't know what happened between Carlson and Ailes--but I don't think a woman who has been given lots of opportunities is brave if she waits until she is fired to bring a lawsuit. I don't think she was fired because of sexual issues, I think she was fired because her show was extremely sappy. She has never gotten over being Miss America. Just look at her website. |

$20 million settlement. Ouch!

I still don’t think they will put Carlson on in prime time, nor will they have her do any debate/election coverage. In fact, I don’t think they will bring her back at all. While I am sure she is a very nice person, she just wasn’t that good. Her interviews were frequently awkward and her questions were not at all probing. Her transitions were weak. Now, I could not do any better, but I am not in broadcasting. She would be best at having a daytime talk show of her own that doesn’t require much depth of discussion. |
Does she still talk out of only one side of her mouth, as if she's had a stroke? |
Stop. She is brilliant and an excellent host. |
| Top anchor? That's an awfully low bar. |
I am very worried about her health. Hopefully she will be seeking out the finest physicians, or Ben Carson, for obvious symptoms of dengue-related facial Parkinsons. |
That's mean. |
| Wow! This is a big deal. |
No. We all need to come to terms with the obvious signs of severe brain damage. |
Greta? Are you kidding me? |
