| We had a houseguest here the last 2 nights. Just left and I went to take the sheets off the bed and to get the towels to wash. Found 13 empty water bottles, 7 wet towels, and he somehow spilled coffee all over the bathroom and didn't clean it up! Wtf?! |
|
UGH. SOOOO annoying.
Well, he doesn't ever get to visit again. The end. |
|
How ticked off are you this morning? If I was in a good mood, I'd let it go and not allow this person to be a houseguest again.
If I was truly ticked off, I'd call them up and say while I loved having you visit, I was surprised to find 13 empty water bottles, 7 wet towels, and spilled coffee all over the bathroom. |
| How did this guest manage to use 7 towels in 2 nights? Was he pouring the water on the floor and then wiping it up? |
| I'd never do that in someone's home, but it wouldn't ruin my day if a houseguest did it in my home. That kind of comes with the territory of hosting people; people fall on a spectrum of terrible houseguest to great houseguest, but I still enjoy their company while they're there. |
I have no idea! I have 8 guest towels in the linen closet and he left one. And the water thing is really annoying. I told him the sink water was fine because we have a distilled hooked up to it. I try not to use the bottled water very much since it is so bad for the envt. More to give people if they are hopping in the car. Not to continuously use! Refill your bottle! Or use a glass! And clean up your messes! I supposed I should be happy that he didn't use the 8 guest towels to clean up the coffee. |
| Was your guest a young adult? It sounds like he doesn't know how to act when there isn't someone cleaning up after him. |
He is 43. |
That still qualifies as young adult in my book.

It's annoying but really not that big a deal. Not much harder to wash more towels - you are doing wash anyway. Sure it would have been nice if he'd thrown away/recycled the water bottles but easy enough to toss them in the recycling. We buy cases of water for under $5 so it cost you maybe $2?
We have guests all the time at our summer house and people have different habits. Be grateful he was only there 2 days. If it really bothers you don't host him again. |
| Did my FIL visit you? He and MIL use an astounding number of towels when they visit, leave coffee mugs half full of coffee like a scavenger hunt around my house, and often break things and don't tell us but we discover them when we clean up after they leave. |
|
that is terrible!
I also think house guests should remove their own sheets as a basic courtesy. |
Damn op. YOU sound annoying and rude. And controlling. So it's about water bottles. That's what you're mad about. The houseguest should have drank your "sink water". Lol |
| You don't have kids, do you, OP? |
Yep you should see my nephews(older just going off the college) - 1/2 fill water bottles, trash, towels & clothes everywhere. They are just use to others picking up after them..they have no clue someone has to pick up all hat stuff. |
