Houseguest - rude!

Anonymous
In general as a guest, the owners never should have been made aware of the bottle and towel use or the mess. It should have been taken care of. You need to tell this person you aren't a maid. What is the relation/association of this person?

He is 43.

Wow. Why didn't he stay in a hotel?

That still qualifies as young adult in my book.

Just More evidence that Gex-Xers are entitled spoiled lazy brats. Thank goodness they are being replaced by Millennials, who are all hard-working, etc. by nature.

Sure it would have been nice if he'd thrown away/recycled the water bottles but easy enough to toss them in the recycling. We buy cases of water for under $5 so it cost you maybe $2?

We have guests all the time at our summer house and people have different habits. Be grateful he was only there 2 days. If it really bothers you don't host him again.

It doesn't matter how much they cost. It's GROSS to be so wasteful, for no reason. Think of the cost to the environment.

And you haven't asked her to stop, why?

Perhaps he didn't want to bring his water bottles out of his room because he didn't want to hear a lecture from you about how plastic bottles are so bad for the environment.

He probably hid his petroleum jelly somewhere too.

And I agree w/the PP that 43 is still a YA.

Give him a few more years.

Stop with the 43 is young comments. If you are old enough to serve as president and get the nuclear codes, you are old enough to pick up after your damn self.

43 is NOT young. That's full-on adult heading toward the mid-life crisis years. The guy is just inconsiderate.

OP here. He is older than I am! And I am not a YA. The best part is that he drives a Prius and lectures everyone about being environmentally aware.

+100. Who are all you people that think 43 is a "young adult"?! My DD is 22 and she's nearing the end of young adulthood. And I'd still expect her to know better than to pull this in someone else's home.
