Clothing brands for super fat babies

Anonymous
My 4 month old is wearing size 18-24 months in gap and carters brand, but now even those aren't working. Her thighs won't be stuffed into the leg holes anymore, and the clothes are too long in the arms and legs. Any recs for brands that accommodate babies with a little more to love?

This can't be healthy.

It used to be cute but now it's a little disturbing. Looks like she might be wearing skirts with tights all winter long.

Get some Capri length leggings

Yeah, at this rate she'll end up on one of those my 600 lb life shows... I'm enabling her with my breastmilk I guess.

Try some boys clothes. My daughter is super chunky and the girls pants are all cut pretty slim. Carters has some warm fleece sweats and basic onsies. Not as cute but after trying to shove my 14 month old into 3T skinny jeggings I gave up. I also like baby boden.

That doesn't seem so crazy, I don't think. I would just buy bigger clothes and roll the sleeves/legs. I bet she will even out when she starts crawling/walking.

This is a great idea! Thanks.

You know what? My niece is a big baby because both her parents are super tall. What her parents realized was that once my niece started crawling her fat little thighs slimmed a bit and she was able to fit into clothes they thought she'd grown out of.

I won't give away any of her old clothes yet. Unfortunately she's at 40th percentile for height... As am I. She will not be a tall gazelle, but you could be right that her thighs might lean out.

OP, my DD was big (not quite this big, thank goodness), so I have some experience with this. You've just gotta get creative.

Sleeveless shirts with a little sweater on over it (sleeveless always fit better than sleeved when you're a fat baby!).

Old Navy sells cropped leggings- my DD was living in 2T and 3T in those at a year old. They are awesome for the fat ones because they give them the waist, thigh, and leg opening room, but they're shorter. I got ours at the outlet mall at Anne Arundel- the website has these http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=150982332 but they're almost sold out. Must be a summer thing, unfortunately, but I'd look around and see if you can find some in another brand.

Get pajamas without footies- that way you can fold up the legs and stick some socks on her.

And say goodbye to the Bumbo. By the time my kid was old enough to sit up in it, her thighs were too fat to fit. Be warned. She's now just 2 and is creeping into the 4Ts. My best advice is to only buy a small number of clothes in each size. The big babies blow through them too fast!
